Sri Mulyani to replace Juan Jose Daboub who completed the four-year tenure as Executive Director of the World Bank as of June 30. World Bank international selection process before finally pointing Sri Mulyani to serving this important position.


The World Bank praised the Sri Mulyani as a man who played an important role menggawangi Indonesia's economy to successfully weathered the financial crisis, including the implementation of key reforms. Sri Mulyani also managed to get the respect from many parts of the world.

"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Sri Mulyani. He has become the minister of Finance with a deep well of knowledge in development issues and the role of the World Bank Group," said World Bank President Robert Zoellick in a press release.


"As a member of the Senior Team, he (Sri Mulyani) will play to help lead the World Bank moves to strengthen support for our clients, implementing our reform program and anticipate future challenges," added Zoellick.

Sri Mulyani is an FE-trained UI and earned his PhD in economics from the University of Illinois, USA. Sri Mulyani many times also included in the list of 100 Influential Women by Forbes Magazine.
Before becoming finance minister, Sri Mulyani had also served as Minister for National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas on 2008-2009. Sri Mulyani also serves as the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs when the post was abandoned Boediono.

Responding to his appointment as Director of the World Bank, Sri Mulyani, who recently became 'target' Century case claimed that he felt proud.

"It is an honor for me and also my country to get a chance to contribute to the World Bank mission which is very important to change the world," said Sri Mulyani.
